Hello, this is Andrew Hawkins from Rootstown Local Schools calling to inform you that our school district will be implementing a mask mandate for all students and staff in our buildings beginning Monday September 13th through Friday October 1st. The mask rules apply during the school day only.
Our goal is for our students to be in front of our teachers, in person, everyday.
After the first 7 days of school we have had a number of students who have had to be isolated or quarantined due to testing positive for COVID or being a close contact of a positive case as defined by health officials.
Wearing a mask during the school day means that anyone who is a close contact to a person who tests positive will NOT have to quarantine and miss school.
We intend for this to be a temporary situation while we work together to keep the spread of the virus down, and keep our students in school. We will look at COVID data the week of September 27th and determine if the mask mandate will continue after October 1st. We will share another update during that week.
Again, all students and staff will be required to wear masks beginning on Monday September 13th though at least October 1.
Please visit the school district’s website for information regarding COVID.
Thank you and have a great evening!
